Dunaliella salina is a pink-colored alga found on the surfaces of marine lagoons and, in addition to β-carotene, contains small amounts of other carotenoids (lutein and zeaxanthin).

The alga is cultivated in a high-salt aqueous environment, which helps prevent contamination of the final product by pathogenic microorganisms.

As with all Lamberts® formulations, it is manufactured in the United Kingdom according to the strict standards of Pharmaceutical GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).

β-Carotene (or β-carotene) is one of the most important plant pigments, with a very wide distribution throughout the plant kingdom. It belongs to the carotenoid family and, when taken orally, serves as a precursor to vitamin A. For this reason, it is often referred to in the literature as “provitamin A.”

The conversion of β-carotene into vitamin A takes place in the liver, kidneys, and intestinal mucosa, at a rate dependent on the body’s physiological needs.

β-Carotene is considered one of the most important micronutrients, as it is one of the main dietary antioxidants.

The β-carotene in this dietary supplement is 100 % of natural origin, as it is extracted from the alga Dunaliella salina.
